OUR FIRST MEETING IS THIS THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST AT 8 PM.
we are meeting in the co op, which is now in the 'bicycle graveyard' aka 'the red room'

The Bike Co Op is moving! Not very far, but it is moving. So think about bike storage. While researching, I found this awesome thing:

Rickshaws
HELL YES. Bard bought us a Rickshaw this year to encourage sustainable transportation around campus. We're working on getting minimum wage for the pilots of the chariot, but as of now anyone can take it out for a spin, pick up some strangers, make them not strangers, maybe even collect tips! Just get in touch with Logan Hollarsmith at lh1246@bard.edu and I'll teach you how, give you the lock code, and set you up with a time slot. Be a regular! This semester we're really trying to have this as a constant and predictable means of transportation. And it's hella fun, and surprisingly fancy with full leather upholstery, brake lights, blinkers, motorcycle drum brakes, list goes on. If we make this a smashing success, Bard will buy us more. A fleet of rickshaws bout to take over.

Join us for festive bike rides year-round! This one (The Spring 2011 Tour de Franzia) happened to be in the sun and ended in a swimming party, but we ride everyday of the winter as well. We really want to include people with all different bikabilities. It's OK if you think you suck! You probably don't, and the best biker out there is the one having the most fun. That makes us really, really good bikers.

The summer is closing, and soon we will be back at BARD! And riding bikes! Together!
for newcomers: here is a brief introduction to the Co-oP:
we are a bike 'shop'- but more of a bike 'shop' 'school'
staffed twice a week, open all week, for anyone and everyone to bring their bikes in for problem solving and tinkering. If you don't have a bike, have no fear, we can probably hook you up with one, if you are willing to work a little and sweat a little.
we are mostly bike enthusiasts, and would love to bike with YOU!
keep your eyes peeled for posters and signs. Come visit up in the basement of the old gym. Just ask a security guard to guide you in the right direction.
